On May 9, nineteen students from Civil, Mechanical, Industrial and Construction Engineering embarked on a 12-day trip led by Professor Darcy Bullock to study 21st Century European multi-modal Transportation Infrastructure in London, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.  Active learning opportunities included bike tours of London and Paris, an Eiffel Tower climb, the Paris sewer museum, a technical tour of the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport construction site, the Hamburg Airbus aircraft assembly plant, and a ramp tour of the Munich airport.  A Twitter feed provided live updates of the group activities during the 12 day course:   https://twitter.com/21stEuro2016

A highlight of the trip included London Crossrail site visits to observe the 15 billion pound (~20 billion US Dollars) construction project managed by Bechtel.  Steven Bechtel is a Purdue graduate. Bill Dudley, Bechtel CEO, is also a Purdue Civil Engineering graduate.  Al Dausman, Bechtel Project Engineer and CE Advisory Council Member, joined the students on the trip.

The photo album below highlights the 12 days, 2 bike trips, one Segway tour, one boat tour, 5 airports, 2 overnight trains, countless bus, subway, and light rail journeys, ~400,000 steps, and ~800 flights of stairs that the students experienced during the Study Abroad trip.
