As a Junior in the Purdue Lyles School of Civil Engineering, Whitney Weidenbenner is a student and leader. 

Outside of the classroom she is involved in the Purdue Civil Engineering Student Advisory Council, where she serves as President. She founded a campus chapter of Wine to Water, where she also serves as President. Whitney is also involved as a member of Maclure Cooperative; an athlete for Purdue Club Softball; a national volunteer for FIRST Robotics; and member of ALDPES. She has completed two internships in Civil Engineering, and will be starting her third this summer at Hanson Professional Services in Springfield, IL.

Her work inside the classroom is centered around an emphasis in hydraulic and hydrologic engineering, where she plans on pursuing a master's degree in the years to come. Once her schooling is completed, Whitney aims to earn her Professional Engineering license and work in the water resource and protection fields. With her work, she hopes to improve water systems throughout the United States, increasing their efficiency and providing healthy environmental alternatives to destructive systems. Because of her success in the classroom, Whitney was activated into Chi Epsilon National Civil Engineering Honor Society last semester. This accomplishment was a great milestone in her academic career, and she is very proud to be a member of the national organization. It was also her great honor to be awarded the Chi Epsilon John Focht, Sr. scholarship, a National Chi Epsilon award.
