>> 05/28/2014: Prof. Zavattieri has been selected as one of the 83 nation's outstanding young engineers to attend the National Academy of Engineering’s 2014 US Frontiers of Engineering Symposium in Sept. 11, 2014.Engineers ages 30 to 45 who are performing exceptional engineering research and technical work in a variety of disciplines will come together for the 2 1/2 day event. The participants -- from industry, academia, and government -- were nominated by fellow engineers or organizations and chosen from almost 300 applicants. [Link]

>> 04/18/2014: Our lab is part of a multi-university and multi- disciplinary team that has received a $7.5M Department of Defense Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) award to study  over 20 organisms, including mammals, reptiles, birds, fish, mollusks, crustaceans, fosils, insects and plants  to develop strong, tough materials based on their design structures.
